Week 5 of Pregnancy – What to Expect

Posted by Lifetime Adoption on July 24, 2015

black_woman_pregnancy_testAt five weeks along, you’re just starting your second month of pregnancy. By now, the levels of the pregnancy hormone are high enough in your body that you can confirm your pregnancy with a pregnancy test if you’re not sure.

The start of week five of pregnancy is usually when most women know that “something is up.” They may have noticed a missed period, sore boobs, and nausea.

Another common side effect is feeling tired, like really exhausted. This is because your body is working really hard, making a placenta and a person. No wonder you’re wiped out!

At this point, your baby looks like a little tadpole and his heart has started beating already. You may be able to see it beating on an early ultrasound. Major organs are starting to grow, and his limb buds begin to grow. He's the size of an orange seed.
