Uber is no longer just a safe way to get home after a raging party. The popular ride-sharing company is going to start a program called "Uber Health," which will give people free rides to their health care providers.
This news means that pregnant women who don't have reliable transportation will no longer have to worry about how they'll get to the doctor's office.
According to CNN, Uber is partnering with health care providers, who will schedule rides for their patients. The best part is that the health care providers will be paying for the cost of the rides! Keep reading to learn more details...
If you have a hard time finding transportation to your prenatal doctor appointments, Uber Health will come as a major relief! Your doctor can send you a text with your ride details like time, place, and what kind of car your driver has. If you don't have a smartphone, they can also print out a piece of paper with your ride info. And you can choose to be called on your cell phone or landline phone with the trip details as well.
Your doctor will be able to schedule a ride on your behalf right away, within a few hours, or up to 30 days ahead of time. This is so handy because they can set up your transportation to follow-up appointments while you're still at the doctor's office. During the first 7 months of your pregnancy, your doctor will probably want to see you once a month. Then in your 8th month of pregnancy, you'll probably see them every other week. In your final month, you may be at the doctor's office once every single week.
Even if you've had a baby before, it's still important to get the prenatal care you need. No two pregnancies are the same, even if it feels that way. If you have trouble getting to your doctor's office and Uber Health isn't set up in your area yet, let your Adoption Coordinator at Lifetime know.
