I Don’t Think I Can Do Adoption…

Posted by Lifetime Adoption on May 31, 2014

When they first start to consider making an adoption plan, many women think “I don’t think I could give my baby away.” The truth is adoption isn’t giving your baby away. It’s providing your child with a lifestyle that you might not be able to provide at this point in your life: a stable family, and a future. No matter how many months along you are, considering your pregnancy options is hard. But, you always have choices. Nowadays, women doing adoption can take part in every aspect of the adoption process. You’re able to tailor your own adoption plan and have choices every step of the way.

Some of these choices include choosing the adoptive parents for your baby from a wide variety of couples, and the ability to meet in person. Also, you can get on-going updates through emails, letters, photos, and visits.

Telling Your Friends You’re Pregnant & Thinking About Adoption

Posted by Lifetime Adoption on March 23, 2014

In theory, true friends are supposed to be with you for the long haul. That means that if you decide to tell them about your pregnancy then they’ll be supportive of whatever decision you decide is best for you and your baby. They may have different reactions at first, so be prepared. When you reveal that you’re thinking about adoption, they may try to make you change your mind.

Remember, friends often want to be helpful and they may tell you that they will support you or even help take care of the baby. The truth is, babies take a lot of work, and while your friends might be willing to help you in a crunch, in the long term they won’t be able to provide the kind of support you need. Keep your good friends close and ask them to help you through the hard times. They can be good support for doctor’s appointments or to go to counseling, or even to help you break the news to your family, that you are considering adoption.
