Is It Selfish to Consider Adoption?

Posted by Lifetime Adoption on May 10, 2013

We often get asked by women who are thinking about making an adoption plan for their child: "is it selfish to consider adoption? Is it selfish to consider parenting" No, neither decision is selfish if you are making it based on the right reasons.

Adoption can be one of the most unselfish decisions you can make. It gives your child the opportunity to have a family who has the time, resources, and ability to cherish this baby just as you may want to do. It is hard to admit that you may not be able to be a mom right now; however the good news is that adoption is not goodbye forever. You can choose to remain involved in your child's life, and your child will know why you chose another path for them.

Parenting a child is difficult. Love is not enough to provide what a child needs to thrive. Even in a committed relationship or with the help of family and friends, being a parent is a full-time job!
