Homeless and Pregnant

Posted by Lifetime Adoption on October 4, 2014

Question: “I’m homeless and just found out I’m pregnant! I’ve decided I want to put my child up for adoption. I need help with housing…is there a pregnancy home or a place I could live?”

Answer: Yes, services and assistance may be available to you. Depending on your age, you have a variety of support services such as relocation to another town, sharing a home with another birth mother, maternity care homes, or studio apartments.

An Adoption Coordinator here at Lifetime can help you find housing, and we sometimes have families that are open to housing a birth mother for the term of her pregnancy. In the past, some birth mothers have moved to another town until after their baby was born, while others stayed in their own town. Your living situation will be determined by how many months along you are, as well as your plans for your baby and your circumstances.

Lifetime is here to provide you with referrals to other services, answer your questions, and provide useful info to help you decide what your options are. Call Lifetime Adoption at 1-800-923-6784 so that we can help you decide what your needs are and get help for you quickly.
