Adoption Q&A

Posted by Lifetime Adoption on February 20, 2013

Q. I had my baby last week. Is it too late to change my mind and put him up for adoption?
-Ali

A. No, it is never too late, Ali. Even if your child was 6 weeks, 6 months, a year or two, or even older… there are adoptive parents waiting to adopt EVERY child. There truly is a family out there for every child.

This can be a tough time but some women do want to try being a mom (or even a single mom) for a while before deciding if adoption is the right choice to consider. So it is not an unusual request at all.
The first step would be to complete the initial paperwork and, if you’d like, look for an adoptive family or two you might wish to choose. Or, if you’d prefer, Lifetime can choose a family for you.

When you are ready, the family will travel to your state and meet with you and your baby if you’d like. You will also have to meet with a lawyer to sign some papers.

We will walk you through every step of the way, and even arrange counseling if you’d like.
