"Every smile, giggle, and coo was designed by God's perfect plan!"

Posted by Lifetime Adoption on December 12, 2018

Earlier this year, adoptive couple Derek and Jennifer were blessed to adopt a baby boy through Lifetime. In this family’s story, we hear from Jennifer about receiving "the call," the bond they've established with their son Elijah's birth mother, and their experience with becoming parents together through an open adoption.

Now a forever family, adoptive mom Jennifer shares their beautiful story in this special guest blog post!

Because we live on the West Coast, I wasn't surprised to hear my cell phone ring as the sun began to rise over the mountains.

As I pulled my phone closer and tried to focus my blurry eyes, I saw the call was coming from Grass Valley, California. I held my breath as I answered knowing that Lifetime Adoption called with "good news" outside of business hours. My husband and I listened to the voice on the other end of the phone intently. She spoke of a birth mother who chose us to raise the precious child growing inside of her. We listened carefully to every word and detail and soon learned a baby boy was due in just over three weeks.

Adoption Registry: Shopping Checklist for Parents-in-Waiting

Posted by Lifetime Adoption on September 2, 2016

Here's our follow-up to last week's post, Buying for Baby: Should we stock up now or later?

So you’re ready to start your adoption registry or wish list, but aren’t sure where to start? Lifetime has created this adoption shopping checklist so you can be sure you have all the needed essentials on your registry for adoption.

Remember, you may need to customize your own list, based on your adoption search goals. For example, if you’re open to a child between the ages of newborn to 2 years old, you may not want to stock up on newborn clothing or buy an infant car seat until you know for sure the age and needs of the specific child you adopt.

Buying for Baby: Should we stock up now or later?

Posted by Lifetime Adoption on August 26, 2016

Adoptive parents-in-waiting ask: “Should we have a nursery or room ready before we adopt?” The answer to this will vary parent to parent—some families prefer to wait so that an empty room or unused gear aren’t sitting unused, while others like knowing they are ready and stocked for when their child arrives. Whatever you decide to do in your adoption path, it IS wise to plan ahead for some things, even if it’s just to create a registry or have a list of items you know you’ll want or need when it’s time for your adoption.
