Posted by Lifetime Adoption on November 10, 2015

You may have seen our posts about listening to open adoption stories and reading adoption books as methods for celebrating National Adoption Awareness Month.

We wanted to share with you 7 more ways that you can recognize adoption this National Adoption Awareness Month:

  1. Read other's adoption stories
You can see photos and stories about Lifetime Adoption's most recently adopted babies and children, and updates on previous adoptions at LifetimeAdoption.com/newly-adopted.

  2. Write a letter to your local newspaper
Email your newspaper about what a blessing of open adoption is today.
For ideas and stories, you can go to  AdoptionHotlinks.com to visit websites about adoption.

  3. Support adoption non-profits
Lifetime Adoption Foundation is a non-profit charity that assists women choosing adoption, both with their physical needs and their futures, through educational scholarships. It also offers grants for families open to adopting hard-to-place children. Donations received go directly to funding both of these programs.

  4. Ask your local library to display adoption-related books
Lifetime's Founder and adoption expert Mardie Caldwell has written several books on adoption including AdoptingOnline.com, Adoption: Your Step-by-Step Guide, Called to Adoption, So I Was Thinking About Adoption... and The Healthcare Professional's Adoption Guide.

  5. Learn about positive adoption language
Using positive adoption language will help end the myth that adoption is second best. By using positive adoption language, you’ll reflect the true nature of adoption, free of stereotypes. Click here to read some examples of positive and negative adoption language.

  6. Purchase adoption jewelry
Getting adoption-related jewelry for yourself or someone you know who has been touched by adoption.
Wearing an Adoption Prayer Bracelet is a lovely way to display your adoption hope and a reminder to pray for your adoption and those involved in the adoption. All profits from Adoption Prayer Bracelets to go the non-profit organization Lifetime Foundation, which helps birthmothers, children, and adoptive parents.
