There are those times when life is challenging and the path to parenthood challenging, when it is drudgery and just hard work to move forward. It's then when you have to focus and search for happiness and patience along the way.
God’s Word gives you insights into your human condition and offers you help to deal with your battle to stay encouraged!
You don’t have to let life’s challenges overwhelm you. God wants to help you face your daily life and journey with confidence and enthusiasm! He wants you to be encouraged and He wants you to experience a happy life during your adoption. God wants to help you stay encouraged in spite of any challenges that cone along.
Here are some important principles on enjoying the journey of adoption... It starts with being able to handle the rough spots. What do you do when dark days confront you? How do you stay encouraged? Do you have a prayer and devotional time to gather strength and peace?
There are many Scriptures that teach that God wants you to be encouraged and enjoy your life:
Even in life’s darkest days there is hope! There is a source of encouragement! You don’t have to believe the circumstances and what they look like when you can believe instead that God is going to work things out!
I’m feel I'm a fairly optimistic person but I want to tell you I find it’s tough to stay optimistic sometimes! Prayer and reading the promises in the Bible help me with daily devotionals. Even 10 minutes can make a huge difference. Start with thanking God for what He has provided. Then ask God for direction and then listen to Him speak to you through His word in the Bible. You might even consider getting a smart phone app that reads the Bible to you. Then follow God’s instructions if you want to stay encouraged.
"As pressure and stress bear down on me, I find joy in your commands."
Dark days can be real tests of your behavior. If you want to encourage yourself in God, you need to act like God would act. Express kindness toward others. Love them in spite of their shortcomings. Remember don’t take your anger and frustration out on them.
The key to staying encouraged in life is to walk with God and live according to God’s instructions. When you deviate from that, you will lose your joy.
I find and hope you will too, that the most important practice in all of your life is spending time with God. Make this your first priority if you are to stay encouraged in the midst of the demands of life and the adoption journey. Your struggles are not the center of your life.
God can and will use your life, but you must be willing to face your fears and stay close to the Source for encouragement and guidance.
Here is the recipe I followed in my own adoption:
My goal was to refuse to allow failures to interrupt my journey. I strived to remember to put the past behind me and be determined to have a positive mental attitude in life and my adoption quest. Pray for guidance and wisdom. There is a child for you!
