Will a Birth Mom Pick Me If I Don't Live By Her?

Q

Dear Lifetime Family,

I was wondering how often birth mothers seek waiting families outside of their area?

A

Great question Beth! Birth mothers have expressed to us that the most important issue is to find a family that can provide her baby with all the things on the “must haves” list. The geographic region is less important. As you know, each birth mother is different and each may have needs that vary greatly.

It seems that the only time the region or state comes up, is when a birth mother wants a more extensive contact agreement. Living in the same state will give birth mothers and adoptive families greater access to each other. If you are open to contact, a birth mother from your state will consider that a bonus and put you at the top of her possible choices!
