Three Things to Know About Teenagers

Posted by Guest Contributor on December 4, 2012

  1. Many teenagers will set the ringtone on their cell phones to a decibel that is higher than most teachers and parents can hear. My children tell me it sounds kind of like a dog whistle. Kids can hear the tone and adults are oblivious.
  2. Many older children and teens establish Facebook pages to benefit their parents. These “pages” are completely made up. Then, the teens set up a real site under a code name for all their friends to see.
  3. Did you know that teenagers aren’t out to get you? They don’t want to push your buttons or make you feel bad about yourself. Young people believe in their hearts that they know more than you and that their way is the right way. They feel sorry for you, because you are so blind to reality.

For all you parents of infants and those who are waiting to parent, I don’t mean to scare you. Parenting teens is a wonderful experience. They are amazing and exciting human beings.

However, it is a good thing that parenting teens only comes after years of experience. You young parents will not be ready to take on the challenge for about twelve or thirteen years! Pass this on to your friends!
