The Gift of Giving

Posted by Lifetime Adoption on December 15, 2012

I saw this beautiful little poem on giving that I would like to share with all you wonderful Mommies and Daddies to be.

It is in loving, not in being loved, the heart is blessed; It is in giving, not in seeking gifts, we find our quest; Whatever be your longing or your need, that give; So shall your soul be fed, and you indeed shall live.

I am reminded of the wonders of motherhood and the joy that comes with giving so completely of oneself. Families created through adoption are true families. This is illustrated throughout the Bible and still today. After adoption, you are a parent, and your child will depend on you for his physical, spiritual and emotional needs.

You will experience all the joys and heartaches any parent experiences. You will serve and give until you collapse at the end of the day. You will learn a new humbleness. God will draw you closer to Himself and you will be richly blessed. You will be Mom and Dad.

“The Lord is my strength and my shield;

My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped.

My heart leaps for joy,

And I will give thanks to Him in song.”

Psalm 28:7
