From the Heart of a Birth Mother...

Posted by Lifetime Adoption on May 9, 2014

Each year, on the Saturday before Mother’s Day, we honor and remember birth mothers for their part in bringing a new family together through adoption. Regardless of her circumstances at the time of her child’s adoption, every birth mother loves and thinks of her child around Mother’s Day.

With Birth Mother’s Day coming this weekend we want to share a message from the heart of one birth mom and provide you with an opportunity to partner with the Lifetime Foundation to bless birth moms.

“Not long ago we met as strangers. We were strangers who needed each other. I needed you to open your hearts and home to my child. You needed me to give you a child that you had longed for. It is my belief that from the time of conception, God was forming a plan to bring us together in spite of the hundreds of miles that separated us.

From the moment we met, I felt a sense of relief. I was relieved that God had sent angels to care for my child. Although I was relieved, I was also hesitant to believe that total strangers could love my child as their own. It wasn’t until I watched you two at the hospital holding and caring for my child, did I realize how amazing adoption could be. My fears quickly deteriorated.

Vincent (adoptive father), as if vowing to protect her, you gently picked up my little girl and wrapped your arms around her. The look in your eyes was priceless. It was not unlike the way my deceased father used to look at me when he told me he loved me. You were always concerned when her last feeding or diaper change was. It was clear to me that she had not only conquered your heart, but that she was in good hands. I will not be there to see it, but God bless the day that she first calls you Daddy.

Adrienne (adoptive mother), when a woman delivers a child instinctively she cries tears of joy. You might as well have delivered her because your tears never ran dry. You are truly a gift from God. The love and nurturing that you gave my child was so real and strong that all who was privy to witness you with her felt it. It is my honor to have played such a role in you becoming a mother.

I love you both. I cannot tell you how much it means to me to know that two people such as you adopted my baby. I wish you all the happiness in the world. May God bless you, because you have definitely blessed me.
Thank You,
Birthmother in Indiana”
