Adoption: The Simmering Pot

Posted by Lifetime Adoption on December 26, 2012

Years of “trying”, then years of fruitless infertility treatments can bring a normally calm and collected woman to the very brink of losing composure. The process of waiting to be chosen can sometimes create a tipping point in that tenuous control. Several of the women at Lifetime have experienced the gamut of emotions surrounding infertility, pregnancy loss, and adoption. They understand the emotion and the pain that is inherent in “the wait”.

Please don’t lose heart, ladies! What you feel is normal! It certainly is not fun, but it is definitely understandable! The key is to feel that emotion, then give it to God and let Him carry your burden. In Romans 11:36; 12:2 He gently reminds us, For of Him, and through Him and to Him are all things…be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Try to resist the temptation to call your coordinator too often. She wants success for you and prays for you on a regular basis, however, she is only human! Only God knows the child predestined for your family. God will open the eyes and heart of that very special Birth Mom to choose you! Be still and wait on His miracles.

Hope and peace are available to you if you take the time to find the help you need before you adopt. Seek support from others seeking to adopt. Involve yourself by volunteering to help others and keep your faith strong. While you work through your challenges in life, remember, you are not alone. Choose to take the pot off the stove, before it boils over!

So take heart… for I have faith in God that it will be exactly as I have been told.
