Adoption Q&A: Adoption Situations Online

Question: My husband and I have just started to look into adoption centers and have seen the birth mother situations listed on the Lifetime website. Lots of them look like they fit what we’re looking for; are they still available?

 

Answer: The birth mothers that you see on our website are women who’ve contacted us and are interested in making an adoption plan for their baby or child. They are all in various stages of their adoption process. They may be viewing adoptive family profiles of Lifetime couples. Or, they may be already speaking and interviewing Lifetime adoptive families they are interested in. Also, it may be that Lifetime’s Adoption Coordinators are still waiting for her to submit additional information, including medical records.

In some cases, Lifetime is not able to match the birth mother with a family, for various reasons. We do have 10 or more new adoptive families each month that sign on to work with Lifetime for their adoption. It is important that we have a good selection of families for birth parents to view and select from as they come to our site.

At times, adoptive families end up waiting longer to adopt because they have specific preferences and the birth mothers on the website don't match their preferences. Some families that come to us are matched almost immediately.
