"When I saw that positive pregnancy test, I knew I couldn’t make parenting work. I was a full-time college student at the time, deep in debt, and my baby’s dad”wasn’t in the picture. My son would've been in daycare full-time, only seeing me for a few minutes in the early morning and at night. I would have had to work all the time just to afford the necessities. I knew adoption was the answer for me because there are so many couples that desperately want a child, and are prepared to care for one.

What Happens When People in College Get Pregnant?

Picture waking up to go to your morning classes after being awake most of the night with a crying baby. When you’re done with your classes, you go to your job for 8 hours. Once you’re done with work, you pick up your baby from childcare. Then, you return home and start the process all over again. In this situation, you’re not really raising your child; the daycare provider is doing most of the nurturing and caring for your child. Even though this daily routine is necessary, it’s not the best way for a child to start out.
