Is Lunch Meat Safe During Pregnancy?

Hot dogs and cold cuts (and soft cheeses), can contain the bacteria "listeria."  Cooking will kill it, but ready-to-eat foods can become contaminated after cooking and before packaging.

Even though listeria is everywhere, non-pregnant healthy adults aren't effected by it. Pregnant women are about 20 times more likely to become sick from it-some say it's because you have a weakened immune system right now.  If you cook your hot dogs and lunch meats completely, it'll destroy this listeria. And, it's smart to stay away from foods like lunch meat that may carry listeria during pregnancy. Here's a quick list of risky foods:
